Afonso Patrão is Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra since 2005. He directs his research in the areas of Private International Law, European Union Law and Property Law.
He graduated in Law from the Law Faculty of the University of Coimbra (2003) and has a Master in European Union Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra with a thesis on Non-Contractual Liability of the European Community (2008). He holds a PHD (2017), with a doctoral thesis on “Removing obstacles to the European Mortgage Market — Party autonomy in Hypothec and reinforcement of international cooperation”.
He is the Project Coordinator of European Union Tender EU-ADAPT (Adaptation of rights in rem in cross-border succession within EU) - JUST-JCOO-AG-2020-101007501.
