Master of Civil Engineering
General Objectives of the CourseThe general fundamental goal of the study cycle is to graduate skill professionals capable of following or contributing at the level of scientific and technological innovation in the domain of Civil Engineering, providing the students with a sound education and training in areas related to planning, conception and design, execution and management of all types of territorial interventions aimed at fulfilling social needs. It is simultaneously intended to encourage the students to valorise the skills and personal attitudes required for the professional activity, namely scientific thinking and creativeness, criticism and sense of responsibility, the capacity for autonomous learning, for interacting and working in group and with multidisciplinary teams, for self-adaptation, communication, for self-demand, cultural ecumenism and the valorising of knowledge.
Candidates to a Master’s Degree must:
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or legal equivalent in Civil Engineering or related fields
• Hold a foreign higher education degree granted after successfully completing a 1st cycle of studies in Civil Engineering or related fields, organised in compliance with the Bologna Process by a State acceding the said Process.
• Hold a foreign higher education degree in Civil Engineering or related fields, recognised by a statutorily competent scientific body as comprising the objectives of a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Hold an academic curriculum, whether scientific or professional, for which a statutorily competent scientific body attests that the candidate is capable of following this cycle of studies.
Candidates should check the admission requirements available on this site, in addition to the information provided here.
Professional GoalsIn this Master Course it is expected that students can complement the knowledge obtained in the 1st cycle course (Bachelor in Civil Engineering) with new competences/skills which can be applied in solving engineering problems in complex contexts. The new competences and knowledge will allow an easier integration into the labour market, at national and international level, in areas related to planning, design, execution and management of all actions in the territory, in all fields of Civil Engineering.

Learning Objectives and Intended SkillsThe overall objective of the learning process is that the students command the use of engineering concepts and techniques required for the intervention in the domains under the scope of the Civil Engineering, including some challenges of the actuality.
In order to accomplish this general objective, the study cycle aims at achieving the following specific goals: i) to provide wide range training, with deep analysis and insight in the essential formative aspects of the technical and scientific areas of Civil Engineering; ii) to provide a preliminary specialization in one of these areas.
Additionally, this course aims to develop skills in solving problems, in experimental work, using the theoretical concepts in practical problems, communication capacity with either expert or general publics, work in multidisciplinary teams, develop autonomous learning, criticism and sense of responsibility, as well the development of personal and civic issues.
