Luís Macedo is Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics Engineering of the University of Coimbra. He received his PhD in Informatics Engineering in 2007 from the University of Coimbra. He is a member of the Cognitive and Media Systems at the Center for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra. His research interests lie in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science, more precisely in autonomous agents and multi-agent systems, affective computing (especially, surprise and curiosity), decision-making under uncertainty, machine learning, information theory, computational creativity, selective attention, user modeling, and recommender systems. He has been involved in some national and international projects, program committees, and as referee in many international conferences and journals in these areas.  He was vice-president of the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA) from 2014 to 2015 and member of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA) from 2011 to 2019. He is the lecturer of the courses of Artificial Intelligence (Master Science on Informatics Engineering), and Human-centered Artificial Intelligence (Master Science on Data Science and Engineering), and Topics on Artificial Intelligence (Bachelor on Data Science and Engineering).
