Jorge Manuel Miranda Dias (born 1960) has Habilitation degree (“Agregação”) and a PhD degree on Electrical Engineering by the University of Coimbra with specialization in Control and Instrumentation.

Jorge Dias has research and academic activities in Computer Vision, Robotics and Electrical and Computers engineering since 1984. He did several publications, prototypes and demonstrators along his career as reported in Jorge Dias web page.

Jorge Dias has been responsible for several academic courses on Computer Vision, Robotics, Automation, Electrical and Computer Engineering. Jorge Dias have been supervising Ph.D. and Master students in the field of Computer Vision, Robotics  and Electrical and Computer Science since 1985.

Jorge Dias have been Associated Professor at the University of Coimbra (UC) ( www.uc.pt ) with activities in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computers (www.deec.uc.pt).

Jorge Dias was been principal investigator on international research projects financied by the European Commission through the EU FP6, FP7 and H2020 framework. National projects have been supported by Portuguese Ministry of Education and Science  through Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia.

Jorge Dias coordinates the Artificial Perception Group (ap.isr.uc.pt) from Instituto of Systems and Robotics (ISR). Institute of Systems and Robotics (www.isr.uc.pt) is a multidisplinary research institute at University of Coimbra with activities on robotics.  

Jorge Dias is Director of Laboratory of Systems and Automation (www.las.ipn.pt) from the Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN). Instituto Pedro Nunes (www.ipn.pt) is a technology transfer institute from University of Coimbra and Jorge Dias was Vice-President from the IPN since June 2008 to June 2011.

Since 2011, Jorge Dias is cooperating with Khalifa University (www.kustar.ac.ae) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Jorge Dias acts as Professor from Khalifa University (www.kustar.ac.ae) and do research at the Robotics Institute (KURI) and the Visual Signal Analysis and Processing Center (VSAP).
