General Objectives of the CourseThe studies on Military History have attracted many post-graduate training in academic institutions of worldwide reference. The mission of this joint academic institutions in this MA Military History program is to provide students with a base of historical knowledge within the field of military history; build an awareness of differing historical interpretations; build the ability to synthesize diverse types of historical knowledge; build and refine student research, writing, analysis, and presentation skills. It is intended to develop both basic skills and a theoretical capacity to discuss the presented contents. In parallel intends to provide students with a foundation for developing a professional identity as a historian in the field of Military History.
Are admitted as candidates for registration:
a) The holders of a degree or legal equivalent.
b) In the selection of candidates to the frequency of the course will be an overall evaluation of his journey, which will be considered in order of priority, the following criteria: i) classification of degree they hold under the European scale comparability (Article 19 of Decree-Law nº 42/2005, February 22) or the number of the classification of your degree in that year (paragraph 2 of Article 20 of Decree-Law nº 42 / 2005, February 22),scored 1-5; ii) assessment of academic, scientific and technical curriculum, scored 1-5.
c) It may be effected an interview to candidates if the Scientific Committee Cycle studies deemed necessary.
d) Candidates will be serialized according to the score obtained in the selection.

Learning Objectives and Intended SkillsDevelopment of basic skills and a theoretical capacity to discuss the presented contents. Focusing on the methodology and historiographical debates are expected to be a contribute to this ability to stimulate critical appreciation, given the broad chronological spectrum, and global vision that characterizes this course. The aim is that the student acquires skills and competences capable of, at the highest level:
Apply and integrate knowledge in the analysis of complex problems and the formulation of explanatory
hypotheses of the phenomena under study;
Selecting sources and bibliography while considering their pertinence and credibility;
Applying adequate concepts and other instruments for analysis in the construction of their assignment
Develop research, respecting the requirements imposed by the standards of academic quality and integrity,contributing to extending the frontiers of knowledge.
