Teaching Methods

Lecture classes (T): presentation and discussion around the topics of the course.

Lab classes (PL): application of theoretical concepts in projects.

The MSI theoretical classes will take place, preferably, Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Theoretical classes will also be broadcast by teleconference and will be recorded to allow the students to follow the classes remotely.

The practical classes will be preferably booked Friday morning. The practical assignments may also be developed by the students in remote and asynchronous mode with remote support of teachers.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the unit, the student should be able to:

1 - Identify the sources and understand the nature of Computer Law and Computer Security Law.

2 - Understanding e-commerce and be able to use its legal tools, especially with regard to the country of origin, e-contracts (including certification of digital signatures and consumer protection), and the civil liability of Internet providers.

3 – Knowing the legal framework for personal data protection and privacy in electronic communications and the legal protection of computer programs and databases as well as copyright on the Internet.

4 - Relate the regulation of Internet domain names with the protection of distinctive signs (brands, etc.).

5 - Identifying the competent court and applicable law in disputes related to the use of Internet and to acknowledge the existence of alternative means of dispute resolution.

6 - Understanding the law of computer crime (cybercrime) and aspects of ethics and deontology of Computer Security.
