General Objectives of the CourseThe aim of undergraduate medical education at the FMUC is to help medical students to acquire a solid and coherent knowledge base associated with the appropriate set of values, attitudes and skills that will enable them to become medical doctors committed to the scientific basis of the art of medicine, the ethical principles and humanitarian approaches that are the foundation of medical practice and to the lifelong improvement of their capabilities to promote the health and well-being of the communities they serve.

Recognition of Prior LearningEvery student that enrolls in the course may request creditation of prior training, professional or academic, in accordance with the proceedings defined by the University and the Faculty, namely the following: Regulamento nº 191/2014 - Regulamento de Creditação de Formação Anterior e de Experiência Profissional da Universidade de Coimbra - and the applicable laws, namely the Decreto-Lei nº 74/2006, 24th of March, changed by the Decretos-Lei nº 107/2008, 25th of June, nº 230/2009, 14th of September and nº 115/2013, 7th of August, and by the Portaria nº 401/2007, 5th of April.

Requisites for obtaining the qualification: 360 ECTS, including the conclusion of the Estágio Programado e Orientado (Clinical Clerkship) and the Trabalho Final (Final Work) with a Public Dissertation before a Jury.
