Geographer. PhD candidate in Health Geography in the University of Coimbra with a research fellow from the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (SFRH/BD/132218/2017).

MSc in Science and Geographical Information Systems in the NOVA Information Management School (2011). Graduated in Geography with specialization in spatial planning, in the University of Coimbra (2003). Attended the  Geography for Foreigners Course in the Utrecht University, the Netherlands.

Researcher at the Centre of Studies on Geography and Spatial Planning (CEGOT) and Health Geography Research Group (GIGS) of University of Coimbra since 2006.

Co-author of more than 70 publications, including 12 in journals with impact factor or SCOPUS.

Co-chair of the IGU-CHE sub-commission on Health Geography Research Network and GeoSaúde - Rede de Investigação em Geografia da Saúde nos países de expressão portuguesa.

Member of the Associação Portuguesa de Geógrafos and Associação Portuguesa para os utilizadores de Sistemas de Informação Geográfica.

Awarded with the Healthy Cities Prize from the Rede Portuguesa de Cidades Saudáveis (2008).

Participated as a research assistant in several research projects at the national and international level, namely: EURO-HEALTHY, GeoHealthS, SMAILE and INEQ-CITIES. 

Referee for the journals Applied Geography, Cadernos de Saúde Pública, Territorium, Revista Portuguesa de Saúde Publica and Journal of Urban Health.

Research interests: Health GIS, Public Health, Spatial Epidemiology, geographical variations in health, social, economic and environmental determinants of health, geospatial analysis and Healthy Urban Planning.
