Alberto Cardoso is assistant professor and vice-chairman of the Department of Informatics Engineering, University of Coimbra (Portugal) and senior researcher of the Adaptive Computation Group of the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra. He received his PhD in Informatics Engineering in 2006 and his MSc in Systems and Information Technologies in 1995 from the University of Coimbra.
His main research interests are Remote and Virtual Laboratories, Intelligent Systems, Wireless Sensor Networks, Sensor Data Fusion, Geographic Information Systems, Soft Computing, Supervision and Fault Diagnosis, Reconfiguration and Fault Tolerant Control. He co-edited one book and published two book chapters and several papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He coordinates the project U-Academy (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation 2015 - Innovative Projects in Education Domain), participates in Tempus Project (6th Call of Tempus IV, NeReLa - Network of Remote Labs) and participated in several EU projects (FP7-ICT-2007.3.7 GINSENG - Performance Control in Wireless Sensor Networks).
