It is intended that students acquire an overview of the models of special procedures legally envisaged in the scope of the portuguese civil procedure, as well as the ways of appealing judicial decisions, in terms of its procedures and requirements, acquiring the capacity to properly interpret the law as well to frame and solve practical problems.

I-Notions of process and form of process. Distinction from the concept of action. Framework and study of the voluntary jurisdiction. An analytical study (doctrinal and jurisprudential contextualized) of some modalities of special civil procedures with more practical relevance, namely those related to family law and succession and to the human personality protection.
II- Notion of judicial appeal. Distinction from other forms of procedural reaction. Procedural regimen of the ordinary appeals (apelação e revista).
