Teaching Methods

Theoretical and practical classes that include lectures using examples and case studies related to the topics of the syllabus. As a rule, classes will involve working groups, supervised by the teacher, in which students are expected to develop and work on the topics proposed. Thus, they will provide a space for collective debate, in which students will be able to reinforce what they have learned.

Learning Outcomes

The main purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in organizing information in a library. Thus at the end of the semester students should:

a) understand the fundamental role played by information organization in libraries in what concerns the dissemination, preservation and access to knowledge;

b) be acquainted with the theoretical foundations on which this activity is based;

c) master basic methods and techniques to perform this work in a skilled manner.
