Learn the GED-APNEP Recommendations and the RESAP solution (003) for reducing malnourishment in Portugal.

Learn which nutritional assessment instruments are available, as well as their advantages, disadvantages and indication.

Acknowledge the Nutritional state assessment: ABCD method and Anthropometry patterns.

Syllabus

MALNUTRITION (7 hours)
• Dynanometry; DEXA; biochemical data, clinical examination, medical history, diet, food intake assessment, evolutionary nutritional assessment.
• Biomarkers. Hospital malnutrition: Predominance in hospitals, according to the basic disease.
• Types of malnutrition, development of malnutrition, consequences, nutritional assessment in patients with enteral and parenteral nutrition.
• Protocols for nutritional assessment and monitoring of these protocols.
• Validation of nutritional assessment tools.
• Recommendations of the GED-APNEP and the RESAP (003) solution for reducing malnutrition in Portugal.
• Malnutrition: general considerations, incidence of malnutrition, causes, definition, assessment of nutritional risk, nutritional screening.
• Tools for nutritional assessment, advantages and disadvantages (MNA, MUST, EMS, NRS2002), indication.
• Objectives of nutritional assessment, importance of nutritional assessment.
• Assessment of nutritional status: ABCD method.
• Anthropometry; anthropometric measurements, advantages and disadvantages.
