English Starter Course (A1)

General Objectives of the Course

This is an introductory course for adults who need to learn English for use in a variety of situations. It is intended for students with no previous knowledge of English and/or those placed in basic level on the Language Centre entrance test. At the end of the 60-hour course students will have the language and skills necessary to deal with basic everyday situations in English and will be prepared to start the Elementary I English Language Course (CEFR level A2.1) with confidence.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

At the end of the course, students will have acquired skills in English compatible with CEFR level A1. They will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of concrete needs; introduce themselves and others and ask and answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know and things they have; interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly.
