Specialization Course on Acoustic and Energy Efficiency of Buildings

General Objectives of the Course

The proposed course is devoted to the transmission of advanced topics in the field of acoustical and thermo-energetic behavior of new and existing buildings. Besides presenting an important component in the area of acoustic and thermal / energy performance, this course also seeks to introduce a perspective on the acoustic and thermal rehabilitation of the built environment, as well as an overview of the concerns with the adoption of solutions that contribute to a more sustainable construction. It is intended, with this course, to provide students with fundamental knowledge on the identified topics that are useful from the practical application point of view, and form a significant added value in relation to what is traditionally taught in more general integrated master's programs. Another objective is to transmit advanced knowledge to technicians who work in the area of buildings, that allows them to make decisions in practical problems on an informed basis and having up-to-date knowledge.

Admission Requirements

(i) holders of first cycle (bachelor) courses or equivalent in Civil Engineering or similar, (ii) holders of academic, scientific or professional curriculum whose merit is recognized by the course coordination to attest the capacity to complete the course.
