Master Course in Biokinetics

General Objectives of the Course

The master's degree in biokinetics allows to extend the training of graduates in an applied area, valuing therefore and enhancing its graduate and professional opportunities. Deepening scientific knowledge in sport science, in parallel with the development and refinement of skills in the context of specialized training in physical activity in motion. This proposal will take to solve problems working in a profession that the capacity for self-learning skills are linked to in-depth research.
The course also seeks a specialist preparation for the application of knowledge in multidisciplinary settings for professional application on the study of motion, such as postural adjustments to improve performance of physical exercise, or even in complementary areas such as physical activity, for example, the ergonomic posture.

Admission Requirements

Applications to the Master's degree are available to all those who: - Holders of a degree or a legal equivalent in the areas corresponding to those required in the opening procedures; - Holders of a foreign academic degree conferred as a result of a 1st cycle of studies in those specific areas, according to the principles of the Bologna Process, by a member State; - Holders of a foreign academic degree in those areas that may be equivalent to the graduation degree, and accepted by the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra; - Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, recognized as attesting the ability to attend this cycle of studies by the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra.

Professional Goals

The Master course in biokinetics is based on the study of the movement from the study of the muscle that in addition to research opens doors to all professional activities that deal with improving and motion analysis.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Final evaluation of each curricular unit is expressed by a numeric classification between 0 and 20 values, being approved students with at least 10 values.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

The course aims to deepen the scientific knowledge in sport science, in parallel with the development and refinement of skills in the context of specialized training in the movement inherent in physical activity. This course will serve to solve problems working in a profession that the capacities for self-learning skills are integrated with in-depth research. The course also aims at a specialist preparation for the application of knowledge and skills in multidisciplinary settings of professional intervention in applying the study of motion in the context of sport, such as postural adjustments to improve performance of physical exercise, and complementary areas of physical activity such as postural ergonomics.
The Competences are operationalized through the order of teaching the courses of the study plan that are intended to provide further information on growing. These competences are monitored by the success rate of students and their grades obtained.
