Doctoral Program on Advanced Materials and Processing

Entidades parceiras: Universidade de Aveiro, Universidade de Lisboa, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Universidade do Minho, Universidade do Porto, Universidade da Beira Interior

General Objectives of the Course

Seventy per cent of all technical innovations are directly or indirectly linked to materials. This percentage has been increasing since 1970 and is forecast to continue increasing steadily until 2030. Advanced Materials have been identified by the European Commission as one of the five Key Enabling Technologies.
The doctoral program proposed on Advanced Materials and Processing is in-line with this reality, offering a widely interdisciplinary 3rd Cycle, built from the competence and experience of the research institutions and academic departments involved.
The program is tuned with high ranking European Universities, Institutes and running European PhD network programs, turning so the graduates more competitive worldwide and in particular in Europe, besides opening routes of R&D collaboration of the personnel involved, strengthen so Portuguese competitiveness towards European R&D projects and networking.

Admission Requirements

The target population will be graduates in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, namely Materials Engineering, and related areas
Applicants to the program must satisfy admission requirements of the institutions involved, whose rules are announced during the recruitment process, where the program is offered to National and International students that have already concluded a master course, or legal equivalent, in sciences or engineering, or equivalent to it.
Applicants may not possess the Master degree as long as they obey to the conditions imposed by the article 30, point 1, of D.L. nº 74/2006, of March 24th.
As we aim to select the best students, the main criteria will be to select for interview recent graduate students (less than 2 years after concluding their Master degree) with final course marks above 14/20.The students will be selected and ranked according to their academic, scientific and technical curriculum, experience in the area of the program, English skills and an interview.

Candidates should check the admission requirements available on this site, in addition to the information provided here.
