German Language and Culture III - CL

General Objectives of the Course

The course German Language and Culture - Level III is aimed at students, teachers and University of Coimbra staff as well as the public at large and provides continuity to the study of German language by the students who have successfully attended German Language and Culture - Level II.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Successful course completion supposes the realization of all the proposed activities, the evaluation is expressed in a final grade on a scale of 0-20 points. Minimal pass grade is 10 points.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

At the end of A2 level students are supposed to have acquired the following language skills:
• Students will be able to understand and use expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (personal and family information, shopping, local geography and employment), will be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks which may require a simple and direct information exchange, on familiar subjects.
• Students will be able to describe simple aspects of their past, the immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate needs.

Graduation Requirements

As a rule, continuous assessment is the preferential regime to assess our students’ knowledge which requires 75% attendance and completion of two assessment tests. Other elements such as class participation, homework and tasks performed throughout the course, are also taken into account for evaluation. At the end of each level, students can request the corresponding certificate, if the course has been successfully completed.
