Integrated Master in Electrical and Computer Engineering
General Objectives of the Course
The Master in Electrical and Computer Engineering has a duration if five years, divided in two cycles of study, and aims• to train professionals with a high level of technical quality, scientific and ethical, responsive to the needs of modernization of the worldwide economy in the domain of Electrical and Computers Engineering, in particular in the areas of expertise of Automation, Energy, Computers and Telecommunications;
• provide a solid education that will enable those who wish to continue their studies in a 3rd cycle (PhD) and pursuit a research career.
• to ensure that the Masters resulting therefrom acquire knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles, theories, methods and practices of Electrical and Computer Engineering and be able to give them expression through an integrated set of instrumental skills, systemic and interpersonal.

As assessment is a pedagogical activity inseparable from the teaching process, its aim is to establish the students' competencies and knowledge, their critical sense, ability to recognize and resolve problems, as well as their written and oral presentation skills. Students may only register for exams for classes they are currently registered for under the terms of number 6 of article 4 of the University of Coimbra Pedagogical Policy. The following are examples of assessment items: Oral or written exams, written or practical work, individual and group projects that may require an oral defense, as well as class participation. Assessment for each class may include one or more of the above mentioned items. Grading is based on a scale of 0 to 20 and a grade of 10 is required to pass. Whenever the grade comprises more than one item, the final grade is calculated by taking into account the relative weight of each item according a formula published in the course outline under the terms of number 2 of article 7 of the UC Pedagogical Policy.Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
The Master program in Electrical and Computers Engineering trains a set of specific skills, which are inherent to a graduate program of this nature:• ability to understand, frame, formulate, and solve electrical and computer engineering problems, independently of their origin or structure, possibly in a multidisciplinary and/or complex context; • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and advanced understanding of concepts in the area of expertise of the course capable of constitute the basis of developments and innovative applications, in many cases in a research context; • Ability to design and develop solutions to solve complex problems in a sustainable way or instances of problems involving data and processes large or uncertain; • Demonstrate learning skills that enable them to continue their studies to learn whether individually or in groups, independently and throughout his active life.
