Objetivos do Curso
This PhD in Psychology results from a partnership between FPCE-UC and FP-UL and aims to deepen and extend theoretical, methodological and practical knowledge in the specialty of Educational Psychology, particularly in three areas of research: Learning in Educational Context, Personal and Career Development, Health and Wellness Promotion;This PhD program in psychology integrates a course of advanced training, corresponding to 60 ECTS, and the preparation of the doctoral thesis (120 ECTS). The advanced training course, lasting two semesters, is a propaedeutic and evidentiary phase for the student in the PhD program, and allows the development of research skills that enable the design, implementation and evaluation of studies in the scope of Educational Psychology. Entry on the second phase depends on the approval (mark “Good” or higher), on the advanced training course. Upon completion of the advanced training course, students who obtain the necessary approval mark are able to register the plan and theme of the doctoral thesis.
Condições de Acesso e Ingresso
Candidates for the PhD course must have meet the following requirements:
a) Holders of a Master’s degree or equivalent in psychology;
b) Exceptionally, holders of a “licenciatura” degree or equivalent in Psychology, holders of an academic and scientific especially relevant curriculum that is recognized to prove their competences to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific and Coordinating Committee.
c) Exceptionally, holders of a master degree or “licenciatura” or equivalent in other scientific areas, holders of an academic and scientific especially relevant curriculum that is recognized to prove their competences to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific and Coordinating Committee.

The PhD degree is granted upon approval on the Advanced Training Course with a minimum quantitative mark of 14 and qualitative “Good” as well as the defense of a thesis, with original scientific content and quality in the area chosen.
For the completion of the Advanced Training Course, and for the completion of the PhD, it is up to both Universities, the assignment of the respective diplomas.
