Objetivos do Curso
- To provide students with relevant theoretical and methodological tools for action on key issues and subjects that are part Human Geography as a dynamic and ever-changing field of study and research in today's world.- To prepare experts capable of identifying the main territorial problems affecting current development models.
- To provide experts with practical resources and instruments that enable an effective intervention in areas ranging from rural to urban spaces, on several scales of analysis.

Hold a bachelor's degree in Geography and Land Management, Tourism, Territory and Heritage, Sociology,Archaeology, European Studies, History, Modern Languages of the University of Coimbra or European universities;Holders of a Bachelor's degree in other areas that present a curriculum considered adequate to fulfil this cycle ofstudies by the Scientific Committee of the Department of Geography are also admitted; Hold a foreign higher academicdegree awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process bya State adhering to this Process, in the areas referred to in a); Hold a foreign higher education degree that isrecognized as meeting the objectives of the degree of bachelor by the Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Arts andHumanities; Holders of an academic, scientific or professional CV recognized as adequate for this cycle of studies bythe Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Arts, with an evaluation of 9.5 or higher.

Given the duties and responsibilities of the Geographer (Order No. 20 160/2001 - 2nd Series), this 2nd cycle broadens and increases the knowledge and skills necessary for working in the local municipal councils, coordination and regional development committees at the regional level and even in central government bodies of cities and planning, regional development, environment, land use, agriculture and rural development as well as in private companies that perform work in the environmental field and land planning and management.Regime de Estudo

As assessment is a pedagogical activity inseparable from the teaching process, its aim is to establish the students' competencies and knowledge, their critical sense, ability to recognize and resolve problems, as well as their written and oral presentation skills. Students may only register for exams for classes they are currently enrolled. The following are examples of assessment items: Oral or written exams, written or practical work, individual and group projects that may require an oral defense, as well as class participation. Assessment for each class may include one or more of the above mentioned items. Grading is based on a scale of 0 to 20 and a grade of 10 is required to pass. - Ability to collect, process and analyze spatial qualitative, quantitative and cartographic data respecting the environment and territorial planning.- Ability to analyze the main current development problems, within multiple geographic scales.
- Ability to understand the significance of the environment and land use planning as a problem and a potential.
- Ability to analyze recent major territorial dynamics.
- Ability to forecast future trends in territorial dynamics.
- Organization of responses and tools for action on the imbalances in territorial development.
