Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge acquired in curricular units of Portuguese Literature and Portuguese Linguistics on the 1st cycle of studies.

Teaching Methods

The development of the topics is based on background lectures, supplemented by interactive tasks and the processing of empirical data. The methodology used therefore combines active and expository methods.

Learning Outcomes

In the module Topics of Portuguese Language, at the end of the semester students should be able to:

- Understand the syllabus basic concepts;

- Identify deictics’ presence in a text and understand its functionality;

- Relate different linguistic structures with different communicative intentions and different social situations in the context of language use;

- Detect textual / discursive cohesion problems and solve them.

In the module Topics of Portuguese Literature, at the end of the semester students should be able to:

- Master the core concepts covered in the syllabus;

- Relate literary texts from various genres and typologies;

- Detect intertextual relationships;

- Envision and develop literary reading practices and strategies that articulate the different dimensions of the text's construction and meaning.
