Teaching Methods

The classes will be divided into modules, always focusing on interactive activities based on case studies. These activities will help systematize knowledge and practices and clearly identify principles associated with quality journalism and investigative reporting. Production tools will be demonstrated in practical classes with an emphasis on group work. Students will then be challenged to create news and long formats in one of several formats (written, audio, video, or multimedia). They will apply their knowledge in practice and reinforce their learning through hands-on experience.

Learning Outcomes

This course unit is designed as a laboratory-based and modular unit with a focus on contemporary journalism practices, specifically in the areas of economic and political information and investigative journalism. By the end of the course, each student should be able to:

- identify and apply journalistic principles, tools and practices in terms of writing, sound, audiovisual and multimedia platforms;

- understand the different production and circulation implications resulting from the use of different platforms;

- reflect on the importance of developing quality journalism in today's information context;

- know and reflect on the main contemporary issues in the specialized fields of economic journalism and political journalism;

- Critically understand the current importance of investigative journalism on political and economic issues.
