Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical classes with detailed exposition, using audiovisual media, of fundamental concepts, principles and theories and with the presentation of some practical examples illustrating the application of the theoretical concepts introduced. Analysis and discussion, by students, of practical examples.

Learning Outcomes

This unit aims to explore the complementary aspects between sustainability and digitalization in the context of the built environment. The student must acquire the ability to understand the principles and practices of sustainable construction and how digital technology can be applied to optimize these processes. You should also be able to understand the integration of sustainable strategies and digital technologies in construction practice.

1. Sustainability in construction:
- general principles of sustainability in construction;
- sustainability assessment methodologies (BREEAM and LEED);
2. Materials and solutions in buildings and urban space:
- sustainable materials and decarbonization;
- green solutions in buildings and the urban environment;
3. Digitalization and smart buildings:
- digitalization for sustainability;
- smart buildings - concepts, technologies and contribution to sustainability.
