Teaching Methods

The seminar uses a wide range of teaching methods and techniques, taking into account the specific characteristics and objectives of each topic and the overall design of the course. At the beginning of each topic, oral presentation methods are predominantly used, taking into account the need to transmit a base of information that serves as a theoretical introduction and enables the application of knowledge and autonomous research to be encouraged, leading to tasks such as oral presentations, debates and brainstorming, and the preparation of written research projects/work.

Learning Outcomes

Identify the main trends in leisure and tourism.

Learn about theoretical concepts in the field of territorial development and contemporary debates in the field of sustainability.

Discuss the potential, but also the systemic risks associated with tourism.

Recognise planning as a tool for preserving tourism resources, minimising negative externalities, and optimising the benefits of tourism.

Explain territorial management instruments and their contribution to sustainable development.

Analyse and formulate sustainable tourism development initiatives and projects.

2. The dimensions and typologies of territorial sustainability.

3. From overtourism and mass tourism to new practices.

4. Tourism policies and planning to mitigate impacts and promote sustainability.

5. Tourism and the convergence of the SDGs of the United Nations 2030 agenda.

6. Certification for sustainable tourism: eco-labelling and quality labels.

7. Innovative/sustainable projects and initiatives and their territorial impact.
