Teaching Methods
This unit adopts a theoretical and practical methodology based on reading, the critical analysis of theoretical texts, plays, pictures, and videos of the staging of plays. Documental supports will be used to reflect the multiple aspects of the theatre activity, including the new recording possibilities offered by photography, video, and the growing digitalization in artistic creation and research.
Learning Outcomes
Students must acquire fundamental knowledge regarding the theatrical culture in the West, especially considering the transformations of textuality, space, sociability, conventions and practices of representation. Considering the time span of the curricular unit, a defined set of themes, playwrights and theatrical cultures will be developed in each edition, in order to allow students to acquire research skills and the ability to analyse performance.
