Learning Outcomes
Understand, considering the corresponding historical and artistic context, the evolution of the erudite musical tradition from the first records of liturgical music to the twilight of the Ancien Régime, symbolized by the French Revolution in 1789. Develop a visual - but mostly auditory - notion of the main works and the defining elements of each musical period. Understand the aesthetic concepts applied to each period and identify possible parallels or dialogues with other arts or sciences.
Work Placement(s)

A few examples (susceptible of being reviewed for each edition):
- The polyphony building: from gymel to polychorality;
- Text and music: from the poet-composer to the librettist;
