Recommended Prerequisites
Introductory course that requires the knowledge and skills acquired in Gerneral Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. The subject is taught in Portuguese, so strong knowledge of the language is required.
Teaching Methods
Teaching methods of theoretical and theoretical-practical classes aim at learning the discipline content. The lectures are supported by presentations with simple texts and diagrams, graphs, etc., with media support. There is opportunity to discuss the concepts and more difficult issues.
The practical teaching focuses on the subject of the theoretical lectures.

1. Green Chemistry. Concepts and Principles.
2. Safe Chemistry. Basics of toxicology. Definition and types of toxic compounds.
3. Metrics. Atomic economy, mass metrics: E-factor, mass reaction efficiency, carbon efficiency, mass intensity, mass productivity, effective mass yield.
4. Introduction to Sustainable Processes. Reagents: resources, renewable raw materials. The reaction: Reducing energy consumption and waste, catalysis, solventless processes, microwaves, mechano-chemistry. The product: recycling and degradation.
5. Green chemistry in industry. Case studies on implementing green chemistry in industry.
6. Green Analytical Chemistry. Concepts and trends, 12 principles of Green Analytical Chemistry.
