Lectures, case studies, applysing knowledge in case studies, (elaborate an ethics application for research) small group discussions, plenary discussions.

Learning Outcomes

The goal of this course is to equp the students with the required knowledge, skills and attitudes for an ethical behaviour durigg academic studies.
By the end of the course students will be able to:
Describe and analyze the etical issues in the academic environment and to grasp all the related concepts to individual and institutional integrity.
To develop a responsible behaviour in academic research and to avoid research misconduct.
Use adequately the references for education and research activities.
To grasp concepts such as : academic honesty, and to avoid academic disciplinary actions.
Be aware of the multicultural phenomenon and to promote multicultural diversity.

Syllabus

1. Case studies, concept analysis - Individual integrity and institutional integrity.
2. Case studies - mentor-student relationship; case studies conflicts of interest.
3. Case studies, small group discussions related to Inadequate scientific behavior - Ethics of authorship - Roles, responsibilities. Ethical use of published information. Plagiarism, fabrication and falsification of data.
4. Intellectual property.
5. Case studies related to academic honesty in an educational context - correct use of publications.
6. Case studies related to disciplinary violations in the educational context (cheating, stealing an examination, unauthorized communication during an examination,
