Learning Outcomes

This course unit has as its central objective to promote the knowledge of the diversity of approaches, themes and questions in the field of psychology. After completing the course unit, students should be able to:

- understand, discuss and use theoretical and methodological approaches from different areas in psychology in the critical analysis of current societal problems;

- master new ideas emerging in psychology and integrate knowledge from different areas in the discipline for analyzing and understanding new problems that individuals and societies are facing currently;

- based on a deep psychology knowledge, use this knowledge as tools for the evaluation of practical situations and for the promotion of research projects contributing for the solution of the problems at stake.

Syllabus

This course unit does not have a fixed syllabus, as each year will be different invited lecturers/researchers (from PhD students to consolidated researchers), with recognition both at national and international levels. For each master class, students will be provided with the appropriate syllabus. The master classes will present special articulation with the research conducted at the Research Unit of the Faculty (CINEICC), other research centers of which the faculty are integrated members (e.g., CES, CeBER), as well as with the major areas of research in Psychology of the faculty, namely Cognitive Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, Clinical and Health Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Social and Cognitive Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, and Work, Organizational and Personnel Psychology.
