Basic knowledge of Scientific Research Methods, particularly in Social and Human Sciences.
Teaching Methods
The theoretical-practical classes of this curricular unit will emphasize the active method (e.g., group works), including experiential exercises/activities to consolidate learning outcomes, in parallel with the expository method (e.g., PowerPoint presentations), including the demonstration of practical examples to illustrate the methods under study.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this curricular unit, the student should be able to:
1. Point out, giving examples, the procedural steps of a systematic literature review;
2. Describe the steps of the cross-cultural translation/adaptation process of psychological instruments;
3. Acknowledge the applications of focus groups in psycholological research;
4. Identify the procedures underlying a qualitative content analysis;
5. Conduct and interpret simple mediation and moderation analyses;
6. Develop and administer an online questionnaire for psychological research;
7. Distinguish the methodological specificities of randomized controlled trials;
8. Characterize some common methods/techniques in neuroscience research.
