Recommended Prerequisites

The student must have academic knowledge in petrology, stratigraphy and structural geology.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical lectures with presentation and discussion about the study areas. Field work it will be developed under the supervision of teacher.

Learning Outcomes

With this course it is intended that students may develop scientific and technical skills in the domain of the field geology analysis. Based on different outcrop analysis methodologies from different geological contexts (stratigraphic and structural), students should be able to produce, in autonomous way, geological reports properly organized and supported from a scientific point of view, and that correctly translates the detailed geology of the various studied locations.

Work Placement(s)

Syllabus

The syllabus will be developed in function of the different areas to study in locco, that could be changed in each year Theoretical part: Introduction to the geology of the study areas: lithologic characterization, stratigraphic (lithostratigraphic) units, structural geology and tectonic setting; Field work: lithologic and structural analysis, execution of stratigraphic logs, detailed geological mapping, structural interpretation schemes and interpretative geological sections.
