Recommended Prerequisites

Level C1 in Portuguese is a prerequisite for all courses in the program.

Teaching Methods

The classes will be run as a seminar, combining exposition and commentary of different types of materials. To achieve the defined goals, the potential of the learning management system (LMS) and of the flipped classroom synchronous sessions are explored. Students’ autonomous work is supported by previously supplied digital resources, and guided by teachers.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing  the course, the student is expected to:

1. General skills:

- be able to define, with guided supervision, adequate research goals;

- be capable of selecting, with autonomy, credible and relevant information in the light of the defined research goals;

- plan and write an essay/report on the research carried out, and to present it orally.

2. Specific skills:

- understand that encounters of languages and cultures in contemporary societies can translate into intercultural dialogue;

- be able to characterise the interculturality present in the linguistic communities where Portuguese is spoken;

- be able to integrate intercultural communication practices in educational contexts.
