Dynamics of structures.

Teaching Methods

In teaching the course, it is anticipated the presentation of theoretical concepts and advanced knowledge on the topics defined in the syllabus. This will be followed by exemplification . This will be complemented by case studies about the various issues. Classes will be face-to-face and transmitted remotely using bi-directional audio and video systems.

Learning Outcomes

Master the basics of seismic retrofitting of reinforced concrete structures: (a) design of seimic-resistant structures; (b) identify major seismic vulnerabilities of existing structures; (c) understand the differences and similarities between force and displacement aproaches; (d) capacity design principles. Ability to identify, design and implement seismic reinforcement strategies and techniques within the scope of Part 3 of Eurocode 8.
