Recommended Prerequisites
Structure dynamics.
Structural analysos.
Teaching Methods
In teaching the course, it is anticipated the gradual and reasoned presentation of theoretical concepts and advanced knowledge on the topics defined in the syllabus. This will be followed by exemplification. Both the presentation and the exemplification will be complemented by case studies. Assessment through final exam (60%) and individual work (40%).
Learning Outcomes
It is intended that students (i) master the basic concepts about seismic analysis and design of the various types of timber structures, (ii) develop the ability to identify the main seismic vulnerabilities of the different structural systems and (iii) ways to overcome those same vulnerabilities.
