Technical and scientific knowledge dependent on the subject to be addressed. English proficiency required for searching the literature.

Teaching Methods

Research under the guidance of a supervisor and/or the course coordinator or a tutored internship in a company, which will gradually evolve to the individual deepening of a subject, theoretical or experimental, ending with the presentation and discussion of the work before a panel.

Learning Outcomes

- To obtain an overview of the thematic area, including fundamental concepts, main methodologies and current main research challenges.
- To acquire a broad view of the research domain of the doctoral program.
- To improve competences of critical analysis, critical reasoning, autonomous learning, research and group integration.
- Development, organization, planning and public presentation of a scientific topic strongly related to but not coincident with that of the Thesis Project.
- Widening of perspectives in the area of the student's future training throughout the Thesis project and PhD thesis.
- Development of communication soft-skills.
