Recommended Prerequisites

Students should be able to summon knowledge of Family Law, Civil Law and Civil Procedural Law. The should also have language skills in languages other than Portuguese that allow them to çead research in non-Portuguese speaking legal systems.

Teaching Methods

Weekly sessions composed by theoretical lectures regarding substantial and procedural aspects of Family Law and a problem-based approach second part to be developed by Students. 

Learning Outcomes

Teaching and scientific approach that stems from the idea that both substantive Family Law and Procedural Family Law pursue the goals of pacifying family relations and protecting vulnerable persons and are also both particularly influenced by societal and political changes of legal policy.

Substantial and Procedural Family Law regarding the relations between adults within the family: marriage and its consequences, divorce and its consequences; de facto union; custodianship of vulnerable adults.
