The study of the course topics will be conducted by reading of references indicated by the teacher. There will be weekly sessions to answer questions posed by the student related to the subjects read during the prior week.
Learning Outcomes
In this course data compression techniques specialized for application to image and video data are studied. Upon completion the attendants should have a clear understanding of the theoretical basis of the image and video compression methods currently in use. Due to their widespread use, particular attention is given to the study of the image and video compression standardized methods such as JPEG, MPEG-2, H.264 and HEVC.
