Teaching Methods
Teaching methodology: conjugation of a seminar space and, dominantly, tutorial teaching.
Learning Outcomes
This curricular unit aims to support the process of preparation of the thesis project, aiming at the consolidation and integration of learning and skills developed in the CU of the doctoral course, namely specific skills of design, development and implementation of research plans; to provide critical reflection through sharing of various research projects discussion, with a view to preparing (and subsequent defend publicly) the thesis project.
At the end of the seminar the student should be able to: 1) formulate and clearly justify the research problem; 2) outline the objectives and design research to develop; 3) propose methodologies to be used both during data collection, processing and analysis; 4) identify the expected results and their contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the area of the SCs; 5) submit in writing, respecting the rules of scientific writing, and discuss orally, before a jury, the thesis project.

The written presentation and public defense, before a jury constituted for this purpose, of the thesis project is a condition for the pursuit of studies in the doctoral programme.
This UC, in articulation with the CU of the doctoral course oriented to the development of research skills, aims to support the doctoral students:
A) in the process of reflection and construction of its own object of study,
B) the creation of the theoretical framework and
C) the understanding of the adequacy of the methodological choices to the assumptions and objectives of the research.
D) A reflection on the ethical aspects present in research.
