Learning Outcomes

— To know the main currents of thought and paradigms in social and human sciences as framework of debates about the contemporary society in order to hold a theoretical framework where found the theoretical study and practical of diverse contemporary social problems.

— To analyse the major turns in the production of theory in Social and Human Sciences, which simultaneously follow and engender deep changes both in the processes of interpretation and of agency in the contemporary world.

I. The main actual paradigms in Social Sciences, namely: Bourdieu: social space, symbolic space and domination; Berger e Luckhmann : Interactions of social structures: the social construction of reality;; Habermas, N. Fraser: public sphere, democracy and gender; Butler: Gender and postmodernity; Giddens: Late Modernity, personal identity and reflexivity , Beck. E. Beck-Gernsheim: The risk society.

II. The major turns in the production of theory in Human and Social Sciences under the cultural lens: In the beginning was “class”; The “feminist revolution”; “The Empire strikes back”- race and ethnicity; After “the end of history”.
