Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge of biology, biochemistry in the pre graduate cycle of courses in the scope of Biomedical Sciences.

Teaching Methods

For the theoretical classes, presentations, handouts/articles/ or other material that the professors consider to be the most appropriate with theoretical content related to the objectives of the UC will be used. Joint sessions will be organized to discuss cases and new technologies.

The test will be carried out according to the specific pedagogical objectives of the UC and the number of questions will be representative of the importance of the subject to be evaluated and the number of hours taught in each topic.

Learning Outcomes

• Know cellular and molecular biology techniques, in particular new technologies with clinical application, namely In vivo confocal microscopy (face-to-face learning);
• Artificial intelligence-powered smartphone app such as AICaries (on-line learning);
• Tissue engineering: prediction of tissue engineering results with the artificial neural network, the use of robot-based rapid prototyping system for scaffold fabrication, automated cell processing robotic systems, and the use of computational models based on neural networks for complex applications (face-to-face learning);
• Analyze the oral microbiota and its relationship with the host, discussing the potential of artificial intelligence in this clinical area (on-line learning);
• Promote the digital knowledge in oral biology of professionals in the field with a consequent impact on patient literacy(face-to-face learning).
