Recommended Prerequisites

The knowledge acquired throughout the previous curricular program of the Master's course in New technologies for digital transition in Dentistry. Additionally, the student must have other skills, namely: anatomy, histology, physiology, embryology, english language and computer sciences  (communication and information technologies to access the web, access e-mail, use a word processor and a spreadsheet).

Teaching Methods

This project must be supervised by a doctoral supervisor who can be accompanied by a co-supervisor, internal or external to the UC, depending on the specificity of the topic. The final project must constitute an original research work with scientific impact in the area. During the work leading to the final project, the student must acquire in-depth knowledge of the topic and skills that allow him to understand the research process, including the experimental component and data analysis, as well as its dissemination, through scientific articles in journals with peer review.

Application of theoretical knowledge to clinical research activity in the area of ​​new technologies in Dentistry.

Relate the research activities with the Dental Medicine clinic, from the perspective of applied research.

Syllabus

The curricular unit presupposes the development, presentation, and defense of an original individual work that includes an objective/justification and/or a thematic development. Students should develop the project in order to acquire the following skills: understand the different stages of literature research and the elaboration of the respective protocols; to know methods to elaborate the research questions; develop the ability to reflect critically about the research process; develop argumentative skills and autonomous judgment; develop appropriate scientific communication skills, both orally and in writing; to relate the experience acquired in the scope of the development of research works with the clinical practice; to develop interprofessional skills, in a real environment and context, in the area of ​​Health Sciences and related areas; to develop self-assessment skills of the clinical activity developed.
