Teaching Methods

In theoretical classes, interrogative and expository methods are used, seeking the participation of students in discussions on the topics covered. Theoretical-practical classes are based on the active model. Students develop tasks individually and in groups in a guided and autonomous way. In the seminars they present and discuss the work developed. Peers perform a critical evaluation.

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit aims to provide students with knowledge in dental research using digital intelligence as a tool for scientific advancement. Students will learn research methodologies and digital tools that can be used for planning a research project, answering a scientific question. Additionally, the student will acquire soft skills in dental research, namely, critical thinking, scientific communication, time management and work in multidisciplinary teams.

1. Research and digital intelligence in dentistry(on-line content);

4. Artificial intelligence, augmented reality and virtual reality (face-to-face content);

5. Translation of research into clinical practice (face-to-face content);

6. Hot topics in research and digital intelligence in dentistry (on-line content);

7. Planning a research project in dentistry (face-to-face content);

8. Fraud, ethics and scientific integrity (on-line content);

9. Reproducibility in science

10. Statistics and big data (face-to-face content);

11. Soft skills in research (face-to-face content).
