Recommended Prerequisites

Mastery of the following basic knowledge and skills is essential:

- Pathophysiology of periodontal pathologies and conditions, as well as those in the field of oral pathology/medicine.

- Head and neck anatomy, in particular regarding the structures of the oral cavity.

- Basic knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of the most representative pathologies in Periodontology, Surgery and Oral Medicine.

- Reading, comprehension and written expression and fluency of the English language.

Teaching Methods

T: Theoretical teaching involves expository and demonstrative methods. The themes and techniques will be developed based on a methodology of critical analysis and problem solving, in which an interactive discussion will be promoted through standard cases.

P: Anatomical, digital modeling and biomedical simulation technologies will be used to develop diagnostic, operational and treatment skills.

Learning Outcomes

Have comprehensive knowledge of advanced diagnostic in terms of microbiology exams, digital imaging, computerized periodontal probes and biomarkers.

Have comprehensive knowledge of 2D and 3D documentation in terms of recording and planning, data format and patient digitization.

Have comprehensive knowledge of applications of analog vs digital workflow and digital workflow in perio-prostho planning.

Proficiency in the individualized risk analysis with predictive models for periodontal pathology.

Proficiency in planning through digital wax up.
