Teaching Methods

The seminars aim at the participatory and theoretical-practical discussion of the themes, supported by the analysis of practical examples and the use of texts, cartography and other materials, in addition to research work promoted and presented by the students. At the same time, it is planned to carry out field visits as well as the participation of specialists (teachers, researchers, among others) in the teaching activities, through conferences or other interventions, regarding the curricular unit's matrix themes.

Learning Outcomes

The fundamental objective is to develop students' skills in acquiring and consolidating knowledge about public policies and territorial justice. At the end of this course unit students should be able to: a) recognize the importance of public policies for sustainable development; b) understand the concepts of cohesion, governance and territorial justice; c) problematize the territorial dimension in the context of the formulation of public policies; (d) identify territories with specific geographical characteristics; e) to characterize socio-economic development dynamics; f) analyse the cohesion and territorial justice in theory (policies and instruments) and in practice (interventions).
