Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge in the field of Human Geography curricular units (Economic Geography, Urban Geography, Cultural Geography, Social Geography, Health Geography, Planning and Spatial Planning) and technical skills in the field of data analysis and cartography (Data Analysis in Geography, Cartography and Systems of Geographic Information).

Teaching Methods

The teaching methods are based on the presentation and critical discussion of the main themes that allow reflection on territorial changes, based on examples and using various supports (bibliography - books, articles and documents/reports/studies -, websites, documentaries, reports and movies).

Learning Outcomes

The general objective of the seminar is to provide students with knowledge and skills that allow a critical reading of the dimensions to be valued in defining territorial development strategies, considering knowledge and innovation as essential dimensions to respond to changes in geography economic activities. It is intended that students understand the importance of different types of knowledge for innovation (economic, social and territorial) and for the construction of innovative, creative and healthy territories. On the other hand, it also seeks to reflect on the role that technology plays in economic changes and the emergence of new relationships with expression in territories and also to identify and understand how the digitization of the economy has consequences in the relationship between Man-Technology-Space. Examples are valued at different geographic scales of analysis.
