Teaching Methods

A structure of theoretical and practical classes is foreseen, and although each class has an exposition of material, students will be mainly encouraged to investigate and evaluate the planning system and the respective instruments, in a continuous and proactive way.

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit is intended to familiarize students with the concrete issues of planning and municipal urban management. It confers competences in the elaboration, appreciation and execution of Municipal Land Use Plans. It performs an update of the current legislation and tests the application in existing plans and in new plans.

It places students in the position of evaluators of planning systems and municipal plans.

It promotes the constant intervention of students in the appreciation of documents and projects and in the presentation, in a debate model, of their conclusions.

It encourages the ability of students to propose solutions that promote sustainable cities.

3.2 Concrete proposals for amendments to the Plan under analysis and policy suggestions at a more global level.
