Teaching Methods

Reading of articles and other scientific bibliography and carrying out research work in conjunction with the supervisor. Preparation of a thesis project document that describes the efforts and work carried out to meet the objectives of the course. The evaluation consists of the public defense of the thesis project before a jury. The defense has the maximum regulatory duration and includes an oral presentation by the candidate that shall not exceed 20 minutes.        

Learning Outcomes

Develop preliminary research work and survey of the state of the art in the defined theme in order to plan the thesis work and assess its feasibility and innovation potential. The essential skills to be developed are the ability to acquire advanced knowledge in the specific area of the thesis theme and, above all, the ability to develop autonomous research.

Syllabus

To be defined on a case-by-case basis by the supervisor and the student in the form of a detailed work plan that covers the following points:

- Circumscription of the doctoral thesis theme and research opportunities within this theme

- Establishment of the bibliography to support the beginning of the work and elaboration of the State of the Art;

- Definition of the thesis objectives and its innovative character;

- Description of the research to be developed and establishment of the methodologies to be used;

- Planning of work including preparation of the schedule.
