Recommended Prerequisites

Course units of the 1st and 2nd year and of the 1st semester of the 3rd year.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methods acquire a practical nature, involving tutorial-type guidance, with monitoring and supervision of computational modeling work and laboratory tests. The working groups will have the opportunity to carry out work in the different scientific areas associated with the course. Throughout the course of the c.u., all groups will have contact with all scientific areas. In order to guarantee a continuous development of the work during the classes, the students must make periodic deliveries of the work reports.

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit has the overall objective of promoting interdisciplinarity and the contextualization of the themes/subjects addressed during the course.

In more specific terms:

i) Promote the use of theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems, bringing the knowledge obtained in the classroom closer to professional activity within the scope of the various areas of the degree.

ii) Promoting the connection between the contents studied throughout the course, approaching topics that complement each other, in order to promote the integral formation of the student.

iii) Develop organizational and collaboration skills within the scope of multidisciplinary work.

iv) Development of a project that includes the various phases that occur in current practice.

v) Encourage creativity, critical thinking, autonomy, as well as the spirit of initiative and innovation.

vi) Promote teamwork among the different groups.

Syllabus

Analysis, in working groups, of specific problems related to the different areas of the course through the perspectives of the different scientific areas. The problems under analysis may involve the proposal of alternative solutions, and require the performance of laboratory tests, supported by computer simulation and issuance of a written report.

Having chosen a specific object of study, the students will carry out their analysis, desirably integrating knowledge from various areas of engineering.
