Learning Outcomes

Module A

- Understand the global architecture of digital data acquisition systems, identify and characterize the different tasks and functions of a data acquisition system.

- Identify the physical and technical limitations of data acquisition systems and the associated instrumentation.

- Develop the ability to specify sensor elements and their suitability for the acquisition process.

- Learn basic concepts of data communication networks.

- Use basic data analysis tools for data processing in the scope of data acquisition systems.

Module B

- Gain knowledge about control and monitoring by computer-based algorithms; and requirements for their functionality and management

- Learn basis concepts about networks and communication

- Develop the ability to create, describe and characterize Digital twins of buildings and structures

- Learn basic conceots of facility management of buildings

- Understand the applications of urban digital twins and how they can be used in planning.

MODULE A – INSTRUMENTATION AND SENSORS.

- Review of electronics fundamentals and programming

- Concepts of instrumentation systems: Input / output, gain, filtering, sensitivity, resolution, quantification, coding, transduction, linearity.

- Sensors and transducers. Principles of operation, types and characteristics.

- Actuators and interaction with the environment.

- Control systems for electronic instrumentation systems. Loops and decision making.

- Integration of instrumentation, consumption and connectivity systems.

 

MODULE B - DIGITAL TWINS

- Introduction to cyber-physical systems

- Communication and Networks

- Digital Twins for Buildings and Building Systems

- Facility management

- Urban Digital Twins.
