Teaching Methods

Through oral explanations of concepts and analytical tools used in economics, the classes intend to develop student’s participation in consistent reflections about the questions proposed in the syllabus, in order to allow students to develop an integrated understanding about the working of the real economies.

Learning Outcomes

The main purpose of this course is to provide a general overview on economic working, both at the national and international level, in the view of a business entity. At the end of the day, the student must have achieve a proper knowledge and language, which allow the understanding and discussion of the main problems of a economy and of the economic policy.

Fundamentals of economics; Microeconomics and Macroeconomics

Markets and Government in a modern economy

Supply and demand

Measuring the economic activity; National Accounts: a brief introduction

Short and long run macroeconomics; productivity; a brief introduction to economic growth theory

A brief introduction to international trade theory

The main macroeconomics issues: growth; redistribution; unemployment inflation

Macroeconomic policy: fiscal and monetary policies; some concepts of international macroeconomics.
